This is a re-working of a rag called “Cleaning the Park Rag,” which I originally wrote in 2016 for a live puppet show called “Mop Dog.” Since it was written specifically for a scene, certain stanzas needed to be stretched and repeated in order to fill the particular duration of the scene. As a result, its first iteration ended up a little too long-winded for it to make sense as a standalone piece.
So, after a few years of intending to do so, I finally got around to tinkering with it and tightening up the piece. I’ve titled this re-worked, definitive version, “Park Stroll Rag.” (I’m a big fan of walking through parks, noticing the people around me. Familiar faces, or locally-famous characters, or out-of-towners just passing through, etc… )
